Song ‘Karnali Kataula’ from Upcoming Film Draupadi Released

The song “Karnali Kataula” from the upcoming film Draupadi, which is set to release on Chait 8, has been made public.

The song, sung by Ravi Od and Indrakala Rai, was introduced to the audience during a press meet held on Thursday at Wan Cinema, New Baneshwor.

The song features lyrics by director Rishiraj Acharya and music by Ravi Od, with debut actress Ashwini Shahi, director Rishiraj Acharya himself, singer Ravi, and Sujata Timilsina presenting it in a romantic style.

The song has been filmed at various beautiful locations in Karnali, including She Phoksundo Lake in Dolpa, with choreography done by Bishnu Thodrai.

Since the beginning of its production, the film has been in the spotlight. During the press meet, director Acharya mentioned that he had made a film based on a very original theme. He informed that, as per the demands of the story, new artists have a significant role in the film. The beauty of Karnali is highlighted in the song, which is also aimed at international markets.

Debut actress Ashwini Shahi expressed her optimism about Draupadi. She recalled how she was selected for the role of Draupadi from among nearly 400 applicants, and emphasized that she worked hard on her acting. The film’s shooting took place in Dolpa for about a month and a half. During the event, singers Ravi Od and Indrakala Rai created a romantic atmosphere while singing the song.

Ravi Oad, who made his acting debut in this film, mentioned that he tried to do justice to the character and role he was given. He said, “I acted because I liked the role and felt I could do it. If I get a suitable role, I will continue acting.”

Producer and actor Prakash Ghyawali emphasized that the film carries an original Nepali story and should encourage the portrayal of such subjects more in films. Actor Kabiram Bhame also gave his opinion that more original films need to be made.

Another debut actress, Sujata Timilsina, recalled an accident during the shooting and mentioned the hardships of filming in remote geographic locations.

Sita Baudel, a former Constituent Assembly member who began her acting journey with Draupadi, shared her experience that politics and acting are completely different fields, requiring their own commitment and hard work. She stated, “Creators should take interest in making original films like Draupadi.”

The film, which will be released nationwide on Chait 8, stars Ashwini Shahi, Ravi Od, Kabiraj, Jelsen Adhikari, Sujata Timilsina, Bishnu Thodrai (Subas), Prakash Ghyawali, Sita Baudel, Suraj Adhikari, and Rishiraj in main roles.

The film is written, directed, and produced by Rishiraj Acharya, with editing by Anil Maherjan. The background score is composed by Saurabh Sharma, and the cinematography is by Mohan Kumar Jhillu.

Produced under the banner of RB Movies, the film is co-produced by Ritu Acharya and Bishnu Thodrai. The film will be jointly distributed by Apple Entertainment, FD Company, and Rich Entertainment.
