Yesterday, Tuesday, the grand premiere of ‘Feri Resham Filili’ was successfully held at Labim Mall, Lalitpur. Since the film was produced by a prestigious production company like Cinema Arts, most of the celebrities available in Kathmandu attended the premiere.
Before the premiere, there was a particular curiosity among them about how the sequel of the film from ten years ago had turned out. However, after watching the film, they seemed happy. The reason was that they liked the film. Most of them openly praised the film’s comedy style and the message it conveyed, something that rarely happens at most Nepali film premieres. At some premieres, attendees even try to avoid the cameras, but yesterday, a different scene was seen; they did not run away from the cameras.
They openly stated that the film made them laugh until their stomachs hurt and praised it.
Actor Nabin Chauhan, who is debuting from Unko Sweater, said that the film felt ‘Filili’, meaning enjoyable. Senior actor, producer, and director Ashok Sharma called the film ‘Babal Ramiloo’ (super fun) and gave it a thumbs-up.
Similarly, A Mero Hajur series producer Sunil Kumar Thapa said that the film turned out to be much better than he expected and praised Kameshwar Chaurasia’s performance as ‘Hariya’. Director-producer Krisha Chaulagain, who is preparing for the release of Pitamabar, described the film as ‘Outstanding’, saying, “If you don’t watch this film, you’ll be missing out on fun.”
Actress Richa Sharma said that after Comedy Champion, she had “a great time” watching Feri Resham Filili, while another actress Shilpa Maskey described the film as “very entertaining.” Writer, director, and poet Upendra Subba, who became popular as ‘Jhakri Ba’ from the Kabaddi series, gave a thumbs-up with both hands and excitedly said, “Babal, Babal, Babal Filili!”
Similarly, comedian Suman Karki said, “It was a blast, so much fun!” and praised his fellow comedian Maxim Gaudel, who played ‘Hajmola’ in the film, by saying “Maxim Gaudel Zindabad!” He expressed his happiness at seeing his friend on the big screen for the first time.
Producers Saroj Neupane and Rohit Adhikari also said that the film was amazing, while Suyog Gurung, who is currently directing Jerry on Top, described the film as “Dami” (awesome). Actress Simran Khadka said the film was “very good” and added, “Kameshwar Chaurasia sir is the cherry on top, everyone should come and watch it.”
Alongside the actors and filmmakers, film journalists who watched the premiere also praised the film, calling it fun and commercially successful. They appreciated the work of debut director Niroj Maharjan, stating that Nepali cinema has gained a talented director.
Meanwhile, stand-up comedian Bharatmani Paudel highly praised Maxim Gaudel, saying that he himself would not have been able to perform that role. He added, “Gaudel did an amazing job!”
Another comedian, Suman Koirala, called the film “Worth every penny”, stating, “I don’t know of any Nepali comedy film that is this technically refined, has such organic storytelling, and is presented in such a good way. This time, I truly felt like I watched a great film.” He also noted that all the actors performed their roles at a “next level.”
Similarly, comedian Kailash Karki rated the film 9 out of 10 and clarified, “Even if I removed Maxim from the equation, it would still be a 9. Overall, the movie is great. I am saying this because I genuinely liked it. If you buy a ticket and watch this film, you will get your money’s worth.”
