The much-anticipated Nepali film Mahabhoj has officially released in cinemas across the country starting today, Friday. Directed by Dinesh Raut, the film delves deep into Nepal’s socio-political realities, focusing on corruption, political manipulation, and the struggles of the common people.
Originally scheduled for release on May 28 (Jestha 15), the film was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. The production team later apologized to fans and confirmed the new release date — June 13 (Jestha 30), marking its arrival as this week’s Friday Release.
Mahabhoj features a powerful ensemble cast including Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Mithila Sharma, Saugat Malla, and Pramod Agrahari. The film explores issues like cooperative fraud, political betrayal, media integrity, and the exploitation of marginalized communities.
Since the release of its trailer, Mahabhoj has generated strong buzz among audiences for its hard-hitting theme and intense performances. Director Dinesh Raut has described the film as “not just entertainment, but a reflection and reminder of the realities we live in.”
