Following the blockbuster success of “Boksiko Ghar,” actress Keki Adhikari is busier than ever, with back-to-back releases lined up. Her latest film, “Janai Haraeko Manche: Sambandhka Dhagaharoo,” is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on August 22 (Bhadra 6).
In the film, Adhikari portrays the sister of lead actor Vijay Baral’s character — a woman who silently endures domestic abuse from her husband, believing that her suffering will help her brother achieve a better life. Her character hides her pain, choosing instead to live for the happiness of others.
When her brother discovers the abuse and attempts to intervene, she rebukes him, explaining that she has willingly accepted the darkness so others may find light. The trailer also highlights her as a self-sacrificing figure who gives up her dreams for the sake of her brother’s future.
According to Adhikari, the character reflects the struggles of many women in Kathmandu today.
“She is a young village girl who came to Kathmandu with big dreams at an early age. But circumstances lead her to a point where she cannot even remember those dreams,” Adhikari shared. “There are many such women living in this city, and I portray one of them in this film.”
The film also stars Miruna Magar, Sushank Mainali, Bhola Raj Sapkota, Gaurav Pahari, Riar Rai, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, Rupesh Lama, and Suman Thapa alongside Adhikari and Baral.
Produced under the banner of Paperclip, the film is backed by producers Kamal Nyaupane and Bimal Nyaupane, with Narayan Timilsina, Chudamani Sibakoti, RK Manandhar, CR Basnet, Philip DC, and James Maharjan as executive producers.
The music is composed by Thaneshwar Gautam, Arjun Pokhrel, SD Yogi, and Prashant Sibakoti. Cinematography is handled by Navin Gurung and Krishna Pariyar.
Written by Bhanubhakta Dhakal, the film’s story, screenplay, and dialogues are supported by chief assistant director Dinesh Bahadur Raut, with Tarkaraj Nyaupane, Rabindra Nepal, Monica Thapa, and Akash KC as assistant directors. Laxman Raj Paudel serves as production controller.
Distribution is managed by Govinda Shahi’s Kafia Films.
This marks Vijay Baral’s first leading role of the year following the all-time blockbuster “Purnabahadurko Sarangi.”
