The Nepali film ‘Dhaago’, starring actress Sujata Pant in the lead role, released its second song ‘Mero Samjhana’ on Friday.
However, within two days of its release, the song appears to have failed to capture the audience’s attention. Despite being launched through a major digital platform like OSR Digital, the music video has garnered only 7,180 views, along with 340 likes and 63 comments so far.
While the views are disappointing, the comments have been largely positive, suggesting that those who watched the song appreciated its emotional depth.
Songs and music have always played a crucial role in building early buzz for a film. In this regard, ‘Dhaago’ seems to have missed the mark for the second time, which could make its upcoming release on Kartik 28 (November 13) more challenging.
The newly released song highlights the emotional essence of the film, touching upon familial relationships and their intricate dynamics. Sung and composed by Pushpan Pradhan, the melody lacks the mass appeal needed to attract a large audience. The song also features Karuna Adhikari as a co-vocalist.
The music video portrays an emotional narrative between the film’s lead actors, Sujata Pant and Prabhat Thapa.
Directed by Udip Rana Thapa, ‘Dhago’ is set for a simultaneous release in Nepal and India. The film is produced under the banner of Magnet Entertainment Production House by Uma Thapa, Uttam Thapa, and Udip Thapa, with Prabhat Thapa, Sameer Tamang, and Rajesh Kshetri as co-producers. Abdul Wahid M. and Uday Thapa serve as supervising producers.
The story centers around the lives of Nepali families living along the Nepal–India border, exploring their cultural ties and emotional connections. Along with Sujata Pant and Prabhat Thapa, the film features Surabhi Thapa, Buddhi Tamang, Sunil Thapa, Rabin Sansankar, Deep Chhetri, Pragya Thapa, Babu Pradhan, Seven Bishwakarma, Rajiv Bhusal, Aisha Tamang, and Pappu Bishwakarma. Actress Barsha Raut makes a special appearance in the film.
The film’s cinematography is by Aniker M. Ghosh, editing by Akhilesh Rai, costume design by Binu Pradhan, VFX by Anuroop Kertekutta, color grading by Anindia S. Rai, sound design by Amit Trivedi, choreography by Kaviraj Gahatraj and Basan Darjee, consultant editor Kamlesh Parau, and background score by Nirmal Panya.
OSR Digital serves as the digital partner, while RR Films will handle the domestic distribution of Dhago.
