Anjana Gurung’s Solo Musical Concert to Be Held on Kartik 21 in Kathmandu

Anjana Gurung, a prominent name in Nepali modern music, is set to hold her solo musical concert on Kartik 21 (November 7) in Kathmandu. The event, organized by Tika Gopal M. Creation, will feature live performances of Gurung’s most popular songs, according to the organization’s chairman Geet Singh.

With a musical journey spanning over two decades, Gurung has enchanted audiences through her soulful voice across various genres, including playback singing in Nepali films. Some of her well-loved hits include “Aankhaima Rakhchhu Mero Desh,” “Ma Ta Kaali Sundari,” “Badnaam Bhae Ma Timrai Karanle,” “Aandhi Saari Timro Maya,” “Thyakkai Bhetaunla,” “Nazar Nazarko,” “Jasle Mutu Chudera Lagyo,” and “Maila Rodhi Gharma (Kauda).”

Known for her simplicity, elegance, and magical voice, Gurung has carved a special place in the Nepali music industry. The solo concert will not only offer entertainment but also serve as a tribute to her contributions and to Nepali music as a whole.

On the same occasion, the “Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award 2082”, founded by the celebrated singing duo Kanhaiya Singh Pariyar and Anjana Gurung, will also be presented. The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 51,000, will honor veteran singer Kamal B.K. “Nirmohi” for his lifelong dedication to Nepali folk and regional music.

Nirmohi, who has been instrumental in promoting the musical heritage of Nepal’s Mid-Western and Far-Western regions, is currently battling kidney disease.

Past recipients of the Kanhaiya–Anjana National Music Award include Chandrakala Shah (2078), Bishwa Ballabh (2079), Krishna Gandharva (2080), and Resham Thapa (2081).
