The premiere of the upcoming Nepali film Harsha, set to release on December 12 (Mangsir 12), was held on Wednesday at Labim Mall in Lalitpur.
The event was attended by late director Shiv Regmi’s wife, Gyanu Regmi, along with producers, directors, actors, and media personnel.
Actress Niruta Singh, residing in Mumbai, India, attended a Nepali film premiere for the first time in years.
She praised the debut film by director Ekta Paudel as a strong and meaningful story, encouraging audiences to watch it. Singh mentioned being emotionally moved upon seeing a photo of the late director Shiv Regmi at the start of the film.
Gyanu Regmi also lauded the film and extended her best wishes to her niece, Ekta Paudel, marking her directorial debut after 12 years.
Actor and entrepreneur Sanjog Koirala described Harsha as a family-oriented film offering a unique viewing experience, while actress Varsha Raut expressed her delight over the positive response at the premiere.
Lead actor Khagendra Lamichhane said he was encouraged by the audience’s reactions at the premiere and is confident that general viewers will also appreciate the film. Director Ekta Paudel expressed joy at realizing her lifelong dream of filmmaking and noted that the feedback motivates her to produce even better films in the future.
The film features Khagendra Lamichhane, Varsha Raut, Nir Shah, Santosh Pant, Sharmila Malla, Maotse Gurung, Vishal Pahadi, Nima Pandey, Luniva Tuladhar, Anshu Maharjan, Renu Pradhan, Suvarna Thapa, Srishti Maharjan, Sirjana Napit, and child artist Simon Wadi.
Cinematography was handled by Alok Shukla, music by Sameer, Himal, Basant Sapkota, and Elish Kark, editing by Lokesh Bajracharya, and choreography by Sunil Kshetri and Ekta Paudel.
Produced under the banners of Ashtalakshmi Productions and E-Prime Movies, the story of Harsha is written by director Ekta Paudel. Producers include Prashanna Paudel and Bikash Paudel, with Hikmat Chokhal as executive producer, Ishwar Ghimire as production manager, and Kuldeep Sharma as chief assistant director.
