Kathmandu — The first-look posters and release date of the upcoming Nepali film Bigul were unveiled on Sunday. Directed by Ramesh Koirala and presented by Kalpana Paudel, the film—written and produced by Dinesh Koirala—is set to release nationwide on February 22 (Magh 9).

Among the three released posters, the first features actress Benisha Hamal in a serious expression, backed by a crowd of torch-bearing demonstrators. The second shows Hamal, Naren Khadka and Ramesh Budhathoki in intense and emotional poses, while the third includes the full ensemble cast.

Filming began in late May. According to the makers, the film’s social themes unexpectedly align with the demands raised during the nationwide GenZ-led protests four months later.
Producer and writer Dinesh Koirala said, “The core issues we’ve portrayed in Bigul resonate strongly with the demands raised during the GenZ movement. We dedicate this film to that spirit of change. It aims to awaken youth and call for social transformation.”

The film highlights corruption, social injustice, societal decay, and the struggles and sacrifices of women within families.

Produced under the Magnolia Group banner, the film features Benisha Hamal alongside Naren Khadka, Ramesh Budhathoki, Neer Shah, Saroj Khanal, Hemant Budhathoki, Shishir Wangdel, Binod Neupane, JN Ghimire, Geeta Adhikari, Meera Pandit and Manashree Sharma.

The screenplay and dialogue are by Pradip Bhardwaj and Maunata Shrestha, with cinematography by Shiv Dhakal, choreography by Kamal Rai and Kabiraj Gahatraj, action direction by NB Maharjan, and music by Bishnu Prakash Sharma, Arjun Pokharel and Manoj Chaulagai.

Kafiya Films will handle distribution inside the Kathmandu Valley, while Shri Venketes Entertainment will manage distribution outside the capital.
