Kathmandu — Nepali film Unko Sweater has completed 51 successful days in Indian cinemas, achieving a notable milestone. Released in 40 theatres across India, the film continues to run for 51 days in six cinemas, according to the producers.
The theatres with uninterrupted screenings include PVR Central Chandigarh, PVR Avon City Mall Ludhiana, INOX City Centre and Vega Circle Mall in Siliguri, INOX West Point Mall in Sikkim, and PVR Sahaarganj Mall in Lucknow.
The film had earlier recorded strong box office performance in Nepal, earning approximately Rs 120 million while running for over 51 days in more than 40 theatres. Produced by Artmandu Nepal Pvt. Ltd., its Indian journey began with a premiere in Gangtok, where initial shows were houseful.
From Gangtok, the film expanded to Namchi, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, and Siliguri, later reaching Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Kolkata, and Delhi.
Following success in eastern and northern India, the film screened in Mumbai, Pune, Kerala, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Director Nabin Chauhan said audiences across regions connected emotionally with the film despite language differences.
The film stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, and Sunil Pokharel. In India, it is released by Ashley Production and the Aven Rai Group.
Artmandu Nepal stated that the film’s international run has helped expand the global reach and recognition of Nepali cinema.
