‘The Blue Light’ Pulled From Theatres, Earns Only 832 Tickets

The Nepali film The Blue Light, which was pulled from theatres during its run, has delivered a poor box office performance. Weak audience turnout and low revenue prompted the producers to announce a halt in release, citing insufficient promotion.

According to available box office data, the film earned only Rs 319,595 gross, with just 832 tickets sold during its theatrical run. These numbers highlight the film’s underwhelming commercial performance.

Limited promotion and competition from other releases contributed to its inability to attract audiences. In contrast, Chandra Pant’s “A Bata Aama,” released around the same time, has enjoyed over Rs 50 million in earnings. If that pace continues, the film — made on an estimated Rs 20 million budget — is likely to turn a profit.

Presented by Skyfall Pictures, the film stars Arpan Thapa, Ayushman Joshi, Mahesh Tripathi, and Surakshya Itani in leading roles. Associate producers are Bholanath Katuwal and Raman Gray, while executive producers include cinematographer Mainali and actress Hamal.

Despite its poor commercial performance, the film received praise for Narendra Mainali’s cinematography.
