Kathmandu – The upcoming Nepali film “Paralko Aago,” presented by producer Sushil Pokharel, has sold its distribution rights for the United States and Canada just two days after the release of its first-look poster.
According to the production team, the rights for the North American market have been acquired by Chalachitra ENT.
Producer Pokharel confirmed the deal, saying negotiations are also underway for distribution in other countries.
“We have already sold the screening rights for the U.S. and Canada. Talks are ongoing with distributors in other countries as well,” Pokharel said.
Directed by Laxman Sunar, the film had already generated buzz even before filming began. The release of its poster on Wednesday further heightened audience curiosity, with Nepali communities abroad also showing strong interest, the filmmakers said.
The film stars Suhana Thapa, Saugat Malla, and Prakash Saput in lead roles. Early reactions to the poster suggest audiences are eager to see the three actors share the screen.
Set in a rural backdrop, “Paralko Aago” explores family relationships along with hidden psychological and emotional struggles within society.
The cast also includes Srijana Adhikari, Kishor Bhandari, Jack Shrestha, Sarita Bhandari, Renu Neupane, and child actor Manjila Baniya.
Produced by Hari Om Cine Makers Pvt. Ltd., the film is written by Sushil Devkota and cinematographed by Sankalp Bhujel.
Choreography is by Ramji Lamichhane, editing by Milan Shrestha, and color grading by Kanal Kanwar. The VFX team includes Samir Miya and Satyam Rana, while Sahil Khan edited the teaser and trailer.
The film’s background score is by Kiran Tuladhar, with music composed by Shanti Thatal, Satya–Swaroop, and Prakash Saput. Lyrics are written by Man Bahadur Mukhiya, Surendra Rana, and Prakash Saput.
Distribution will be handled by R Films, while OSR Digital has acquired the digital rights.
The film is based on the short story “Paralko Aago” from writer Guru Prasad Mainali’s collection “Naso.” The same story was previously adapted into a film by director Pratap Subba about 45 years ago.
