Filming of ‘Paanch Pandav’ Begins, Social Drama Inspired by Mahabharata

The much-anticipated Nepali film Paanch Pandav’, produced under the banner of Kali Rani Films, has officially begun shooting. The film’s inaugural shoot took place on Monday in Kakarbhitta, Jhapa, near the Nepal-India border.

The film features prominent actors Harivansh Acharya, Jitu Nepal, Aryan Sigdel, Mahesh Tripathi, and Sagar Lamsal (Bale) in lead roles. Female leads include Deepashree Nirola and Jani Gurung.

Director Basanta Nirola confirmed that the film is a social drama, using symbols from the Mahabharata to tell a contemporary story. The screenplay, story, and dialogues are written by Sushil Paudel, known for the critically acclaimed film Prasad’, raising expectations of a strong narrative.

Producer Kali Rani Shrestha stated that the film has a high budget, ensuring no compromises on technology or production quality. Cinematography will be handled by Shyam Tamang, with a 40-day shooting schedule mostly in Jhapa.

Additionally, viewers can expect full Dolby Atmos sound, produced at Nepal’s newly launched Dolby Atmos studio by Music Nepal. Director Nirola mentioned that after filming in scenic locations in Jhapa, the team will schedule shoots in other locations.
