Kathmandu — Four Russian films will be screened under the “Russian Film Days Nepal 2026” section at the 9th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF), scheduled from March 19 to 23.
According to organizers, the films August, The Challenge, The Dino Family, and All Wrong Girl will be screened on March 21 at the Russian House in Kamalpokhari.
NIFF Chair KP Pathak said the program has been included to promote cultural exchange between Nepal and Russia and to strengthen ties between filmmakers from both countries.
He added that the initiative will allow Nepali audiences and filmmakers to learn about Russian cinema, art, and filmmaking technology, while also expanding professional networks.
The event also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia.
In addition, the Russian film The Poet, based on the life of Alexander Pushkin and directed by Felix Umarov, has been selected for the international competition section. It will be screened on March 23 at 11 AM at QFX Chhaya Center, Thamel.
This year, NIFF will showcase 88 films from 40 countries along with 10 interactive sessions on various themes. The detailed schedule will be released soon, organizers said.
August is a historical thriller set during the final phase of World War II, focusing on counterintelligence efforts within the Red Army.
The Challenge is known as the first feature film shot in space, depicting a doctor performing surgery aboard a space station.
The Dino Family is a family adventure film about a teenage girl who is transported to the age of dinosaurs and struggles to survive.
All Wrong Girl explores teenage bullying, body image issues, and personal rebellion.
