Kathmandu: Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya has departed for a series of international performances in Canada. Led by Amrit Gurung, the team flew out on Saturday night via Hong Kong.
The band is scheduled to perform in Sudbury, Toronto, and London (Ontario). The first show will take place on April 10 (Friday) at the Sudbury Community Arena.
On April 13 (Monday), Nepathya will perform at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, where all tickets have already been sold out according to organizers.
The final concert will be held on April 18 (Saturday) at the London Music Hall in London, Ontario. Doors for all shows will open at 7 PM local time.
A 14-member team, including six performers and eight technical and management staff, has traveled for the tour and will remain in Canada until April 20.
Lead vocalist Amrit Gurung said the enthusiasm shown by the Nepali community in Canada has been highly encouraging. He added that the band will perform with memories of home and festive spirit during the Nepali New Year period.
The lineup includes Dhruva Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dineshraj Regmi on keyboards.
According to organizer Dajubhai Entertainment’s Chiring Sherpa, the Toronto concert sold out nearly two weeks in advance, indicating a highly energetic and packed event series.
