The Nepali film ‘Lalibazar’, set to release on May 1 (Baisakh 18), has completed all post-production work. Following its completion, production company Shatkone Arts has begun preparations to sell its international distribution rights.
Producer Max Dipesh Khatri said the film was ready three weeks ago, but distribution discussions were delayed until all technical work was finalized to avoid complications for overseas distributors.
The film has already generated buzz internationally, especially after the song ‘Mayalai Ke Diun Ma Baina’ went viral, crossing over 11.5 million views on YouTube within a month and inspiring thousands of TikTok videos.
Director Yam Thapa stated that the film presents a fresh narrative not previously seen in Nepali cinema, blending entertainment with social responsibility.
Shot in Rajapur, Bardiya, the film stars Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, and an ensemble cast. It also marks the debut of Bishal Devkota and Prashansa Subedi.
The screenplay and dialogues are co-written by Yam Thapa and Pradeep Bhattarai. The film features cinematography by Sushan Prajapati and action direction by Samrat Basnet.
With strong pre-release buzz, ‘Lalibazar’ is now gearing up for international distribution agreements ahead of its official release.
