Kathmandu — The trailer of the Nepali film Roll No. 1 has been released. The production team, actively engaged in promotion, unveiled the trailer on Friday.

The trailer highlights child psychology and a strong social narrative. It portrays a father’s dream of seeing his son study well and bring pride to the village, while the child has different interests. The story reflects the emotional conflict when children fail to meet parental expectations.

It also shows how poverty prevents students from getting scholarships and how society’s obsession with “only the top rankers deserve respect” creates pressure on children. The trailer further depicts a rigid education system and its negative impact on students.

Through a father–son relationship, the film explores how rote learning and societal expectations affect children’s mental development.

Roll No. 1 is scheduled for release on Jestha 15.

Directed by Jon Yonjan, the film stars Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi, and Srijana Adhikari in lead roles.

Child actors include Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Sanyam Katwal, and Sijal Shrestha.

The story is written by Mahesh Dawadi, while the film is produced by Binod Paudel and Jaanvi Paudel, with co-producers Chhatramaya Giri and Ramesh Chaulagain.

Cinematography is handled by Shivaram Shrestha, music is composed by Prashant Siwakoti, and background score is by Rohit Shakya.

Chief assistant director is Firod Khadka, production designer Kala Sangraula, production head Manoj Joshi, and editor Madan Ghimire.
