Kathmandu – The Hong Kong distribution rights for the highly anticipated Nepali film Aa Bata Aama 2, scheduled for release on October 16 (Ashoj 30, during Dashain), have been officially sold. The deal was finalized even before the film completed production, with a few scenes still left to be filmed.
The Hong Kong theatrical rights have been acquired by Shree Swarnim Communication Pvt. Ltd., giving the production team another reason to celebrate ahead of the film’s release.
Director Chandra Pant said the Hong Kong rights were sold for a significant amount. However, the exact value of the agreement has not been disclosed due to commercial confidentiality. He added that further details may be revealed at a later stage.
Aa Bata Aama 2 is the sequel to last year’s commercially successful film Aa Bata Aama. Its strong pre-release demand in international markets reflects the success and popularity of the original film.
Earlier, the film’s Japanese distribution rights were acquired by R & B Entertainment, while the United States and Canadian rights were secured by Doko Films in a high-value deal. The early sale of distribution rights in major overseas markets, including the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Hong Kong, highlights the growing confidence of international distributors in the film.
Produced under the banner of Arya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the film stars Paul Shah, Malika Mahat, Aakash Shrestha, Rista Gurung, Nikita Acharya, Sabin Shrestha, Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Saigres Pokharel, Gajit Bista, Naren Khadka, and Dilip Akheda.
The film is written and directed by Chandra Pant, while Karansingh Rasali serves as the production manager.
Made under the tagline “The Story of Dashain Jamara and a Mother’s Longing,” the film explores the emotional distance created between mothers and their children due to foreign employment and other life circumstances, highlighting family bonds, sacrifice, and the pain of separation.
The film will be distributed in Nepal by RR Films, while its digital rights have been secured by OSR Digital.
