‘Hali’ Team Marks National Paddy Day with Rice Planting Ahead of Release

Kathmandu: The team behind the upcoming Nepali film ‘Hali’, set for release on August 6 (Shrawan 22), celebrated Nepal’s National Paddy Day by participating in a rice-planting event in Sunakothi, Lalitpur, paying tribute to the country’s farming community.

Actors Pramod Deep, Sujata Thapa, Bidya Karki, music composer Babul Giri, and producers Pooja Gurung and Jasmine Shrestha joined other members of the production team in planting paddy on Monday.

According to producers Pooja Gurung and Jasmine Shrestha, the event was organized because the film revolves around the lives of farmers and traditional agricultural workers known as Hali. They said National Paddy Day symbolizes hard work, agriculture, and the hopes of a prosperous harvest, making it a meaningful occasion for the film’s team to connect with its core theme.

Produced jointly by Japura Films Production and Shubha Chirayu Films, ‘Hali’ is inspired by real-life events. The filmmakers say the story delivers a powerful message that meaningful social change can begin with the determination of a single individual.

Written and directed by Om Pratik, the film is financed by Pooja Gurung and Jasmine Shrestha. The cast features Pramod Deep, Sujata Thapa, Saroj Khanal, Aruna Karki, Arjun Gurung, Bidya Karki, Nabin Shrestha, Kanchan Dulal, Kamal Gaunle, Bishal Pahadi, and Om Pratik himself.

The film’s songs also feature special appearances by Deepashree Niraula, Kiran KC, Dilip Rayamajhi, Priyanka Karki, and Pooja Sharma. Choreographer Kabiraj Gahatraj has choreographed one song, while the remaining songs are jointly choreographed by Om Pratik and Gahatraj.

The technical team includes executive producer Arjun Bhusal, co-producer Namrata Bhandari, line producer Laxman Karmacharya, chief assistant director Jeevan Nath Gautam, cinematographer Rahul Rai, and editors Ram Prasad Chaudhary and Bipin Malla.

The soundtrack features music by veteran composer Shambhujit Baskota, Babul Giri, and Krishna Bhardwaj. Lyrics by producer Jasmine Shrestha are included in the film, while vocals are provided by Babul Giri and renowned singer Shanti Shree Pariyar. The action sequences are directed by Kumar Maharjan. National Cine Group Pvt. Ltd. will distribute the film across Nepal, with OSR Digital serving as its digital partner.
