Kathmandu: The upcoming Nepali film ‘Masterni’ has officially advanced its theatrical release by one week, with the makers announcing a new release date of August 21 (Bhadra 5) instead of the previously scheduled August 28 (Bhadra 12).
The announcement was made alongside the release of a new official poster. The decision comes after the highly anticipated film ‘Toxic’ confirmed its release for August 27 (Bhadra 11), setting up what would have been a direct box office clash.
Directed by Indian filmmaker Subhendu Ghosh, Masterni completed its entire principal photography in Kathmandu and Pokhara within seven days, according to the production team.
The film is produced by Priyanka Karki, Aayushman Joshi, Cabinet Shrestha, and Pranit Karki. The project also marks Agni Group’s debut in film production, with Cabinet Shrestha—CEO of Agni Group and one of the Sharks on Shark Tank Nepal—joining the production team.
Surakshya Singh Malhotra serves as the executive producer. Billed as a crime thriller murder mystery, the film features an ensemble cast including Priyanka Karki, Saroj Khanal, Pramod Agrahari, Aryan Sigdel, Anoop Bikram Shahi, Gauri Malla, Simran Khadka, Raksha Thapa, Bishal Pahari, and Dinesh Kafle.
The story has been written by Priyanka Karki, while the screenplay is by San Basnyat. With the revised release schedule, Masterni is expected to arrive in theatres a week earlier, avoiding a major box office showdown while securing a stronger release window.
