Kathmandu: A new Nepali feature film titled ‘HajarauMa Ek’ has officially been announced. The project will be jointly produced by Nirvana Production and DAD Production as an action-adventure film blending mystery with supernatural fantasy.
According to the production team, the film aims to set a new benchmark in Nepali cinema through its large-scale visual presentation, modern filmmaking techniques, and unique storytelling.
The film will be directed by veteran filmmaker and media personality Subrat Acharya. The original concept has been developed by Sita Maya, who also serves as the presenter, while Dipendra Gautam ‘Michael’ has been appointed executive producer. Renowned cinematographer Hari Humagain will serve as the film’s director of photography (DOP).
While ‘Hajarau Ma Ek’ will primarily be produced in Nepali, it will also be dubbed into Hindi and Malayalam to reach a wider international audience. The production team revealed that the film’s concept creator and lead actor are associated with the Malayalam film industry. Details of the lead cast will be unveiled with the film’s official first-look announcement.
Director Subrat Acharya also confirmed that several actors and technicians from the Malayalam film industry will join the project, while the majority of the cast and technical crew will come from Nepal.
Screenwriter Shan Basnet is adapting the screenplay and dialogues to suit the Nepali cultural setting. Principal photography is scheduled to begin during February–March.
With an estimated budget of around Rs. 40 million, the film will be shot across scenic tourist destinations in Nepal. Combining fantasy, action, adventure, and advanced cinematic technology, the filmmakers believe ‘Hajarau Ma Ek’ has the potential to attract both domestic and international audiences.
