Kathmandu: The teaser of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Masterni’, starring and produced by Priyanka Karki, has been released, offering a glimpse into an emotional thriller centered on a mother’s unwavering determination to protect her daughter.
The one-minute teaser opens with the discovery of a murdered woman in a forest before shifting to Priyanka Karki’s voice-over, where she expresses that nothing is more important than her daughter’s safety. The teaser then unfolds through emotionally charged scenes depicting the bond between mother and daughter, a police investigation, an acid attack, and a series of mysterious events, hinting at a suspense-driven narrative.
Directed by Shubhendra Ghosh, the film features an ensemble cast including Priyanka Karki, Aryan Sigdel, Saroj Khanal, Gauri Malla, Pramod Agrahari, Richa Sharma, Anup Bikram Shahi, Simran Khadka, and Deepashree Niraula.
Produced under the banner of Ayanka Films, the film is jointly produced by Priyanka Karki, Cabinet Shrestha, Ayushman Joshi, and Pranit Karki. Executive producers are Surakshya Singh Malhotra—Priyanka Karki’s mother—and Simos Sunuwar.
The story has been conceived by Priyanka Karki, while the screenplay is written by Shan Basnet. Dialogues have been jointly penned by Priyanka Karki and Shan Basnet. The film’s cinematography is by Yuvraj Indoriya, with editing by Raja Singh Sidhu.
‘Masterni’ is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on August 21.
