The much-awaited film ‘Juna’, created with the aim of discouraging child marriage and violence against women, has released its first look.
Scheduled for release on Magh 25 (February 8, 2024), the film is produced under the banner of Godawari Cinema Production and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. and directed by Jeevan Century.
The first look presents the film’s lead actress, Asmita Dhakal, in a solo shot. In the first look, Asmita is seen dressed in rural attire, with sindoor, a potey (necklace), and bangles on her arms, gazing into the distance. The background suggests she is sitting under a tree. The poster has been designed by Rakesh Dahal.
The film stars Asmita Dhakal, Krishna Prasad Dhital, Deshbhakt Khanal, Rashmi Bhatt, Kamal Bohara, Asmita Basnet, Khagendra Nyaupane, Bikash Anand, Indra Bikke, and Keshav Adhikari.
Director Century stated that the film carries the message, “Child marriage is a social crime; let’s end it.”
‘Juna’ is described as a historical and unique film. The director mentioned that it addresses national issues like violence against women, child marriage, forced marriage, polygamy, rape, sexual harassment, and the harmful Chaupadi tradition prevalent in Nepali society. The film attempts to contribute to eliminating these practices. The film’s focus on child marriage and women’s rights aligns with Nepal’s goal to end child marriage by 2030, a target set by the government.
Filming for the movie took place in Salija Okhreni, Parbat, with an investment from Deepak Prasad Ghimire. The film features a story by Raj Bahadur Sane, music by BB Anuragi and Ramesh Century, lyrics by Jeevan Century and Bhim Bahadur Poudel, vocals by Anju Pant, Purnakala Bisi, and Yadurai Lakandri, and cinematography by Rameshwar Humagain.
The distribution of the film will be handled by Apple Entertainment, Rich Entertainment, and FD Company.
This film has already been screened for former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, members of the National Assembly and House of Representatives, experts, writers, and critics.
