The horror family drama Mummy, set to release this Friday, January 25 (Magh 25), has passed the censor board’s review.
On Tuesday, the film received an “Adult Certificate” from the Central Film Censorship Committee (Censor Board). This means that viewers under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian to watch the movie in theaters.
According to producer Purnima Joshi, the censor board officials who watched the film gave it excellent feedback. She mentioned that Mummy not only belongs to the rarely explored horror genre in Nepal but also subtly highlights various contemporary social issues.
A grand red carpet premiere of the film is scheduled to take place in the capital on Wednesday.
The cast of Mummy includes Karki, Sulakshan Bharti, Diya Maskey, Samip Neupane, Ghanshyam Joshi, Ayushi Dhakal, Jebis Shrestha, Guras Dhakal, and Geet Bisht, among others.
Produced under the banner of So Twenty-Five, the film is written by Samar Neupane and Purnima Joshi, with Samar Neupane making his directorial debut. The producers are Lok Raj Joshi and Purnima Joshi, while Suman Koirala serves as the executive producer.
The cinematography is handled jointly by Nishal Poudel and Sharad Mahato, with editing by Surendra Maharjan. Additionally, Rohit Shakya has worked on the background score, Shrabal RP on sound design, NV Maharjan on action direction, and Deepesh Chaudhary on color grading. The film’s music is composed by SD Yogi.
Kathmandu Valley distribution is managed by Kafiya Films, while Kuber Cine Distribution will handle the rest of Nepal.
