The 13th edition of the Nepal Africa International Film Festival (NAIFF) 2025 is set to take place from 9th to 11th Falgun at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap. Organized by Bilakshan Creation Pvt. Ltd. and the College of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Film Development Board, the festival has entered its final preparation stage.
According to Festival Chairperson Dr. Manju Mishra, 29 feature and short films have been selected for the national competition this year. From a total of 73 submissions—including feature films, documentaries, short films, indigenous films, musical short films, and student films—28 films have made it to the final round. Among them, seven are feature films, seven are short films, five are musical short films, four are documentaries, three are indigenous films, and two are student films.
Feature Films Finalists
Out of 16 submitted feature films, the jury has shortlisted seven for the final round:
- Tel Visa – Directed by Shankar Ghimire
- Draupadi – Directed by Rishiraj Acharya
- Chhakka Panja 5 – Directed by Deepashree Niraula
- Chitthi – Directed by Madhavraj Kharel
- London to Paris – Directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane
- Aincho Paincho – Directed by Krisha Chaulagain
- Sankalp – Directed by Binod Budhathoki, the first Nepali film made in Japan
Short Films Finalists
The following short films have been selected for the final round:
- Red – Produced & directed by Raunak Bikram Kandel
- Khusi – Directed by Pradyumna Mishra
- The Tree Man – Directed by Santosh Subedi
- Khil – Directed by Bikash Magar (Bishwas)
- Apron – Directed by Krishna Prasad Dhital
- Aakash – Directed by Grishma Shrestha
- Where Am I – Directed by Rajan Kharel
- Cigarette – Directed by Dabbuu Kshatri
(Red, Cigarette, and Where Am I are non-competitive films.)
Documentary Finalists
Four documentaries have been selected for the final round:
- Ritto Gaun – Directed by Ramji Gyawali
- Mata: Living Goddess – Directed by Arun Kumar Pradhan
- Girls Revering – Directed by Love Pyakurel
- Destined to Disappear – Directed by Shiva Puri
Musical Short Films Finalists
Five musical short films have made it to the finals:
- Timi Aasu Rahechhau – Directed by Sonam Pakhrin
- Sangai Juni Katmala – Directed by Hemant Shishir
- Mayale Sajaula – Directed by Devendra Kunwar
- Bhullnai Garo Bho – Directed by Janak Singh
- Think About You – Directed by Babita Magar
- Jindagi Khel Jastai – Directed by Birendra Bhat Bipin
Indigenous Film Finalists
Three indigenous films have been shortlisted:
- Indrayani (Newar language) – Directed by Darshanveer Shakya
- K2 (Limbu language) – Directed by Sagar Kerung
- Akhat (Magar language) – Directed by Acharya Gopal
Student Film Finalists
Two student films have been selected:
- No Smoking Please – Directed by Kamala Poudel & Jharna Saud
- School Wall – Directed by Mohan Abhilashi
The jury has also announced nominations for various award categories among the selected films, documentaries, and short films. The festival aims to celebrate and showcase the diverse storytelling talents of filmmakers from Nepal and beyond.
