The trailer of the Nepali film Hostel 3, set to release on Falgun 23, has received an overwhelming response from the audience.
The trailer, which was officially released at a special event in Kathmandu on Friday, is currently trending at number one on YouTube in Nepal and Kuwait. Additionally, it has managed to trend in 13 different countries worldwide.
Having secured the top position in Nepal and Kuwait, the trailer has made a notable impact in Gulf countries, European nations, the UK, Japan, Australia, and Korea. It ranks second in Qatar, third in Portugal, fourth in Saudi Arabia, and fifth in Romania and the UAE. Similarly, it holds seventh position in Japan, Australia, and Malta, eleventh in Malaysia, fourteenth in South Korea, and twenty-eighth in the UK.
Looking at these statistics, it is evident that the trailer of a Nepali film has attracted a vast international audience. This might be the first time a Nepali film trailer has trended in so many countries, setting a new record in the history of Nepali cinema.
As of the time this report was prepared, the trailer had already garnered approximately 969,000 views on YouTube. At this rate, it is expected to easily surpass the 1 million mark today.
The trailer showcases college and hostel life experiences, fun moments, and challenging situations. The film stars Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Pant, Ashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagarkoti, Rihan Giri, and Sama Parajuli in lead roles. Additionally, Praveen Khatiwada plays the role of a warden, while Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya appear as antagonists.
The Hostel film series has previously helped actors like Anmol KC, Salon Basnet, Swastima Khadka, and Nazir Hussain rise to stardom. Hostel 3 also holds a strong potential to establish new actors in the industry.
The film is directed by Sashan Kandel, who has been actively involved in music and music video direction for two decades. The story is written by Madhav Sharma, who also serves as the associate director. The producers include Suresh Kandel, Karna Karki, and Govinda Adhikari, while Shishir Gyawali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar serve as co-producers. Shankar Koirala is the executive producer, and Kosis Raj Kshetri is the line producer.
The film’s cinematography is handled by Arjun Tiwari, with editing by Bikas Dahal. Himal KC serves as the action director, while Arjun Pokharel, Almoda Rana Uprety, Mahesh Gyawali, and Kiran Michael have contributed to the music. Praveen Singh and Roshan Bishwakarma have choreographed the dance sequences.
