Kantipur Film Academy is set to operate a theater.

On Thursday, actor Rajesh Hamal laid the foundation stone for the upcoming theater on the occasion of World Theatre Day.

The academy is planning to operate the theater in the premises of Naksal Gaidhara. The purpose of the theater construction is to integrate film and theater, as explained by the academy’s head, Prakash Puri.

The academy has been providing education in film production and acting for the past nine years.

The construction of the 144-seat theater is expected to be completed by the month of Baisakh (April-May in the Nepali calendar).

With the opening of the theater, film students at the academy will now have the opportunity to study and practice theater-related skills.

The academy has also announced that it will provide a platform for its own students, as well as other theatrical groups and artists.

Actor Hamal, who laid the foundation stone for the theater, expressed that the theater will broaden the scope of opportunities for newcomers seeking to enter and learn about both film and theater.
