Tika Pahari and Regina Upreti to Receive ‘Haritara Film Award’

The ‘Haritara Film Award’, which is presented to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the Nepali film industry, will be awarded this year to actor Tika Pahari and actress Regina Upreti.

In a meeting held on Baisakh 4, chaired by the award’s patron Manoj Shamsher Jabra, it was decided that the 2020 (Bikram Sambat) award would be given to veteran actor Tika Pahari, and the 2021 (Bikram Sambat) award would go to the popular actress Regina Upreti.

The award was established in 2052 B.S. (1995) by social worker Vijaya Rana (Taranani) in memory of her husband Hari Shamsher, and it is recognized as the first formal award in the Nepali film industry.

Tika Pahari, who has been active for over four decades in promoting Nepali cinema and culture, and Regina Upreti, who has contributed to the film industry through acting for more than two decades, will both receive a certificate and a cash prize of NPR 25,000 each.

Previously, this award has been presented to renowned artists such as Basundhara Bhusal, Bhuvan Chand, Krishna Mall, Madan Das Shrestha, Ravindra Khadka, Minakshi Anand, Bishwo Basnet, Laya Sangroula, Rekha Thapa, Dinesh D.C., Shantipriya, Vidur Giri, Karishma Manandhar, Deepak Raj Giri, and Deepa Shree Niraula, among others.

Additionally, the meeting decided to introduce the ‘Haritara Film Journalism Award’ with a cash prize of NPR 10,000, which will be presented to journalist Vishnu Subedi in its inaugural year.

Meanwhile, the Parivartan Nepal meeting held on Baisakh 5 decided to award the ‘Shrimati Durga Devi Punya Niraula Smriti Award’ to actor and lawyer Krishna Dhungana and director/journalist Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar. The prize amount for this award is NPR 10,000 each.

Furthermore, actors Ravindra Singh Baniya, Amar Oli, J.B. Ruwali, Savin Shrestha, Gopal Dhakal (Chande), and Sunil Katwal will receive the ‘Parivartan Special Film Artist Honor 2081’ for their contributions in film production, direction, and acting.

The ‘Parivartan Film Journalism Honor 2081’ will be awarded to journalists Tulsi Giri ‘Bhaavuk’, Krishna Bhusal, and Kamala Joshi.

The awardees and honors will be presented during a special ceremony in the first week of Jestha. The event will be coordinated by director Devendra Pandey, and the ceremony will be hosted by honorary director Madhav Raj Kharel of Parivartan Nepal.
