‘Jaar’ Hits Screens Across the US and Multiple Countries at Once

After its release in Nepal and India last Friday, the film Jaar has begun screenings across several Middle Eastern countries starting Thursday (May 15). The production company Feri Tale Pictures announced that the film’s screenings have commenced in the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain from Thursday.

Director Phurba Chiring Lama stated that the film is being shown in local theaters across UAE cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Sharjah. Similarly, Jaar has also been released in cities like Doha in Qatar and Manama in Bahrain.

From Friday, the film is scheduled to be screened in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and various countries across Europe, according to director Lama. “We are encouraged by the feedback we’ve received from viewers and critics in Nepal and India,” Lama said. “We also expect the same kind of love and goodwill from Nepali art enthusiasts living in the diaspora.”

Since its public release, the film has received critical acclaim in both Nepal and India. Based on a story by senior literary figure Indra Bahadur Rai, Jaar portrays the realities of Nepali society from 200 years ago.

The film features prominent performances by actors Saugat Malla, Anoop Bikram Shahi, and Indian National Film Award-winning actress Geetanjali Thapa.

Produced in collaboration with Hope Reels, LA Seven Shorts, Baral Studio, and Kiwa Production, the film was shot in Sikkim.

The executive producers of Jaar are Trilochan Pandey, Neeraj Rai, Nursang Bhutia, Jyoti Kshetri, and Pema Rinzing Lepcha.

Cinematography is by Saravanan Elavarasu, with editing by Akhilesh Rai. The music in the film is composed by Jhuma Limbu and Ganga Thapa.

In Nepal, Jaar is distributed by Apple Entertainment, Reach Entertainment, and FD Company.
