Actress Bipana Thapa has been signed for the upcoming film Aa Bata Aama, which is being produced by the director of the film Hraswa Deergha. Director Chandra Pant recently finalized her for the role.
This marks Pant and Thapa’s second collaboration, following her return to the Nepali silver screen after 16 years with Hraswa Deergha.
In Aa Bata Aama, Thapa will play the lead character, and the story revolves around her.
Director Pant said, “Bipana Thapa has the main role. As a writer and director, I can say that no emotional story like this has been made in Nepal yet. This story has the power to emotionally move the audience, and that’s why it suits Bipana Thapa perfectly.”
The film is set to begin shooting from this coming Bhadra (August/September), and Bipana expressed her excitement about being part of it. She shared that the story deeply moved her when she first heard it, prompting her to accept the role.
She said, “When the director narrated the story, I was so emotional that I couldn’t speak. My throat was choked. The story is that powerful and strong. I have done a film titled Aama before with director Reshraj Acharya and have watched many such films in both Nepali and Hindi, but this one stands apart. Its impact can only be understood after watching it.”
She added that the powerful story was the main reason for her agreeing to work on the project. “Not only did I get emotional, I cried while listening to the film’s song. Even more touching than the song from Hraswa Deergha, this film’s songs will move you to tears,” she said.
Previously, Bipana played the role of a mayor in Hraswa Deergha, which was well received by audiences. The theme poster for Aa Bata Aama, with a child’s hand stopping a tear from falling from a mother’s eye, was recently unveiled. The film will depict a deep bond between a mother and child. Though Bipana has been cast in the mother’s role, the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. Director Pant shared that the technical team and other actors will be confirmed soon. The film is scheduled for release on Falgun 15 (February/March).
