After watching ‘Unko Sweater,’ Manisha Koirala said – “We laughed, we cried.”

Nepali film Unko Sweater has successfully completed its second week and is now entering its third. Since its release on Baisakh 26, the film has continued to win audiences’ hearts. A special screening held on Wednesday evening in Kathmandu saw a significant presence of notable figures from the arts, politics, law, and media.

The show was attended by Bollywood and Nepali actress Manisha Koirala, well-known actor and pilot Vijay Lama, actor Najir Husen, singers Rajesh Payal Rai and Ananda Karki, constitutional expert Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya, politician Nabina Lama, Dr. Lochan Rijal, journalists Dilbhusan Pathak and Aman Pratap Adhikari, among others, who shared heartfelt responses after watching the film. They praised Unko Sweater for its sensitive portrayal of Nepali society’s diversity, love, and traditions.

Actress Manisha Koirala praised the film openly and said, “I watched Unko Sweater. What a beautiful and touching love story! A tale of love that transcends ethnic boundaries, a vibrant portrayal of cultural diversity, soul-stirring music, and powerful performances have made this film unforgettable. We laughed, we cried, and we experienced the beauty of Nepal’s rich soul.”

Singer Rajesh Payal Rai said, “The film is beautifully made. The director’s work is excellent, and the performances are remarkable. Stories like this, as fragrant as blooming flowers, are something to be proud of in the Nepali film industry.”

Actor and pilot Vijay Lama praised the film’s story and direction, encouraging audiences to watch it in theaters. “The director is an amazing storyteller. With its unique and organic narrative, this film is a must-watch for all of us living in the city,” he said.

Actor Najir Husen shared that the film evoked memories of the past. “The film is warm and tender. It felt like reliving the warmth of earlier times. The performances completely captured our hearts,” he responded.

Singer Ananda Karki said every aspect of the film touched his heart. He also highlighted that the music of Unko Sweater was of exceptional quality.

Constitutional expert Dr. Acharya noted the natural performances, dialogues, and visuals, making the film feel deeply personal. “It evokes nostalgia. The scene of loading up in an auto-rickshaw reminded me of my childhood. I still have memories of four or five such autos. Bipin is truly a master of acting. But to me, the most outstanding, lively, and natural performance came from Miruna Magar, who plays ‘Phool’ in the film. Long live Nepali cinema!”

Directed by Navin Chauhan, Unko Sweater stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Pariksha Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Bikram Rai, Suraj Tamang, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, and Sunil Pokharel. The film is also performing strongly in international markets.
