‘Anjila’, a Nepali film currently in its 11th week of screening in Nepal, will be shown in Aldershot, UK this Saturday without the presence of its lead actress, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, who is also the captain of the Nepali women’s football team. Though her attendance was initially confirmed, the UK visit was canceled at the last minute due to international football obligations, according to the organizer, New Horizon Creation Ltd., UK.

Anjila herself addressed the matter through a video message, stating that football remains her top priority. She apologized to the audience who were excited to meet her and explained that due to her sporting commitments, she would not be able to attend the film screening. Addressing the concerns and disappointment of fans and well-wishers in the UK, the organizers released a statement clarifying that the visit had to be postponed due to her national responsibilities.

The statement reads: “Anjila Tumbapo Subba has been called back to the team early to lead and prepare the squad for upcoming international matches in Thailand and other countries, to participate in press conferences, attend meetings, and complete other official duties. As the main goalkeeper of the national team, her responsibilities are greater than other players, making her early return to the team essential.”

The film is based on Anjila’s real-life story. Portraying her struggles and successes, ‘Anjila’ has been receiving significant love and appreciation from audiences. The film is directed by Milan Chams and produced by Prem Kumar Shrestha.
