
The Nepali film Mahabhoj, set to release this Thursday, Jestha 15, has adopted a unique promotional strategy, introducing variety into its marketing campaign. With only a few days left before its release, the film has reached the audience through street theatre.
On Saturday evening in Gongabu, Kathmandu, a street play titled “Satya Kahile Dagdaina – Mahabhoj” was performed, informing hundreds of spectators about the film’s storyline. According to the film’s producers, this campaign will continue daily in various locations around Kathmandu until the film’s release.
In the street play, the actors portrayed the story of cooperative victims and exploiters through live performance. The play, which closely aligns with the core plot of the film, was directed by Aakash Nepali and written by Sarita Kathayat. The cast includes Sujan Khatiwada, Santosh Giri, Chirag Paneru, Sarita Kathayat, and Binod Prakash Dhami. The play was managed by Trident Concept and The Creators Nepal, while it was performed by the Shubha Aakash team.
Featuring lead actors Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Gaumaya Gurung, Basundhara Bhusal, and Mohan Niraula, Mahabhoj portrays the painful circumstances that arise after cooperative savings are lost. The film incorporates the suffering of victims, the psychological struggles of employees, and political manipulation.
A joint presentation of Clock Work Creation and Picture Frame, Mahabhoj is produced by Himal Kadariya and written by Bikash Subedi. The film will be released simultaneously in Nepal and several countries abroad.
