Actor Saugat Malla is a skilled artist in acting. He often receives feedback from the audience that he truly brings his characters to life. Malla believes that when given time, he can create new dimensions for his characters and can present himself convincingly in any role.

“After working on one film, if I get some time, I can build a new character. Because working on one project immediately after another doesn’t allow much room to develop a new character. In ‘Jante Bakhro’, I got the chance to understand and develop my character. Having discussions with the writer allowed me to build the character differently,” said actor Malla.

He explained that the story the character lives through and the environment shape his preparation. Additionally, his personal experiences also blend into the character. When the vision of the director and Malla’s understanding of the character align, it reflects effectively to the audience on screen. He also mentioned that he is not much influenced by the director’s previous work because every new project has its own outcome.

“I am more attracted to the subject and its presentation by the director rather than their previous work. I don’t believe that if a previous film failed, the upcoming one cannot be good. Many talented directors and actors have done excellent work globally. I select films based on where the proposals come from and which ones I find good. Sometimes I hear why I didn’t do a certain film. But I only work on films that come to me and which I feel are right,” said Malla.

He shared that the film ‘Jante Bakhro’ reminded him of his rural life. He narrated memories of participating in village feasts and gatherings.

“When I was in the village, I used to work in such feasts because the whole village comes together to support events like weddings. A team led by a friend of mine has prepared feasts many times for such weddings. Everyone in the village participates in this process,” he said.

Actor Malla worked for the first time with co-stars Ashif Shah and Garima Sharma. However, he was already familiar with Ashif during the shooting of ‘Kagbeni’. They had discussions about working together but those talks did not materialize.

“Since I already knew him, working together became easy. Also, while discussing the script before shooting, we got to know each other well. That is why you might have seen our comfort in the promotional materials. This film was fun to make, and we enjoyed the shooting. This enjoyment is reflected in the film’s scenes,” Malla said.

He believes the film offers entertainment while also educating about traditions. According to him, ‘Jante Bakhro’ refers to two types. One is when the groom’s party, returning with the bride, is given food by the bride’s side on the way, and the other is the feast held after the bride is brought home. The film’s story is based on these customs.

“Our traditions and culture connect people and increase closeness. Recently, the practice of feeding ‘Jante Bakhro’ has changed with the rise of party palaces. That is why the film presents our traditions and culture, filled with joy and warmth,” Malla said. When asked about his marriage, he prefers simplicity over grandeur. He wants to live life according to his own nature.

“Grandeur has never attracted me; my marriage will also be simple because that is what I like,” he said.

Alongside Saugat Malla, the film stars Ashif Shah, Garima Pant, Rama Thapaliya, Lokendra Lekhak, Kamal Devkota, Bishal Pahadi, Rusha Nyaupane, Kusum Sharma, Sneha Joshi, Samapika Gautam, and others.
