Will Asif Shah Climb Higher Than ‘Dui Rupaiya’? All Eyes on ‘Jante Bakhro’

Asif Shah is returning to the silver screen after a long hiatus with the upcoming film ‘Jante Bakhro’. Although frequently seen in the media, Asif has acted in only a few films. He had a brief role in Mission Paisa and played prominent roles in Love Sasha and Dui Rupaiya. He also directed the film Karkash.

Known for his work in music video direction, Asif said he accepted the role in Jante Bakhro because it resonated with his personal character. He revealed that director Simos Sunuwar had him in mind for the role and confirmed it after consulting a mutual acquaintance in the film circle.

Simos said that although he had envisioned Asif in the role, he still sought second opinions before making the offer. “We move in the same professional circles, so I cross-checked before reaching out to him,” the director said.

Asif shared that he was especially excited about working with actor Saugat Malla and that it gave him a new perspective on acting. “Working with Saugat felt like attending an acting school. I learned how to externalize emotions, and this will influence my future performances,” he added.

The goat, rope, and rural symbols shown in the trailer are tied to the film’s narrative. Asif emphasized his desire to showcase different facets of himself through cinema, beyond television and music videos.

Director Simos explained that the title Jante Bakhro itself sparked curiosity, especially among younger generations unfamiliar with rural traditions. “Even if they don’t watch the film, they’re now asking what Jante Bakhro means. That’s a start,” he said. “Our goal is to entertain while also helping the younger generation understand their heritage.”

Alongside Asif Shah, the film features Saugat Malla, Garima Sharma, Rama Thapaliya, Lokendra Lekhak, Kamal Devkota, Bishal Pahadi, Rusha Nyaupane, Kusum Sharma, Sneha Joshi, and Samapika Gautam.

Jante Bakhro highlights fading rural traditions like feeding wedding guests in leaf bowls (tapari and duna), with a strong cultural aesthetic. The filmmakers hope it will inform as well as entertain modern audiences.

Produced by Santosh Gautam under Muin Entertainment, the story is written by Pradeep Bhardwaj. The film features cinematography by Uttam Humagain, visual direction by Hari Humagain, and editing by Sunil Shivabhakti. It will be distributed by Tiflix Films, with digital rights acquired by G2One Digital.

The songs ‘Muku Muku Mya’, ‘Ghamai Raja’, and ‘Angurko Jhuppo’ have already been well received. The trailer has also garnered positive feedback. The film is set to release worldwide on Jestha 23.
