Damak – The Nepali film Parivartan was officially launched with a special puja ceremony at the Pathibhara Temple in Charali, Jhapa. Directed by Bijay Kerung, the film stars actor Sushil Shrestha and actress Anjana Baraili in lead roles. Filming commenced alongside the inauguration and is scheduled to continue for around 40 days across several eastern Nepal locations including Jhapa, Biratnagar, and Ilam. The producers aim to release the film within this year.
During the inauguration, the first shot featured Sushil Shrestha and Anjana Baraili. The “action cut” for the muhurat shot was initiated by Baldev Singh Gomden Tamang, Mayor of Arjundhara Municipality, while Mukesh Limbu, Secretary of Nepali Congress Mechinagar, clapped the board. Present at the event were cast members Sushil Shrestha, Anjana Baraili, Asha Paudel, Subash Meche, Gautam Tiwari, Ayesha Karki, along with director Bijay Kerung and producer Deepak Sibakoti, among other members of the film unit. Local representatives and social workers were also in attendance.
Produced under the banner of Dibyashi Films Pvt. Ltd., Parivartan is said to highlight issues such as the sensitivity of Nepal’s border security, the web of corruption, and the painful realities faced by the poor, helpless, and underprivileged population.
Producer Deepak Sibakoti is also the writer of the film’s story. The cast includes Sushil Shrestha, Anjana Baraili, Sunil Thapa, Buddhi Tamang, Karishma Manandhar, Asha Paudel, Subash Meche, Pukar Bhattarai, Ayesha Karki, Gautam Tiwari, and Yamanath Kharel.
The screenplay and dialogues are written by Shivam Adhikari. Cinematography is led by Shiva Dhakal, editing by Bhupendra Adhikari, action direction by Shree Shrestha, choreography by Kamal Rai, and poster/publicity design by Royal Bhimsen and Trident Concept. Nawaraj Sharma serves as the assistant director, and Arun Regmi is the production head.
Interestingly, a film titled Parivartan was also made in 1971 (B.S. 2028) under the direction of Hira Singh Khatri. Nearly five decades later, a new film with the same title and a powerful story is set to reach audiences once again.
