The highly anticipated film Mahabhoj, directed by Dinesh Raut, had a grand preview premiere in Pokhara on Monday. The event was attended by lead actors Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Buddhi Tamang, director Dinesh Raut, and producer Himal Kadelia, among others.
The premiere was also graced by Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, Chief District Officer Durgadevi Sharma, several cooperative fraud victims, notable figures from various sectors, and journalists, who watched the film as part of the audience. After the screening, the film was widely praised for its storytelling, presentation, and performances. However, alongside the appreciation, a sense of outrage was also observed among the viewers.
Deeply immersed in the film’s setting, some viewers vocally expressed that Mahabhoj has the potential to incite rebellion, similar to the impact of the film Aago in the past. They believed the film holds the power to shake those in authority. A few audience members even warned that they would stand against any censorship or removal of scenes under political pressure.
The film’s depiction of the plight of cooperative scam victims was also well-received during a previous preview show held in Kathmandu, where audiences gave positive feedback. Additionally, viewers noted that the film was entertaining as well.
Mahabhoj, produced under the banner of Clock Work Creation and Picture Frame, is produced by Himal Kadelia. The film stars Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Gaumaya Gurung, Basundhara Bhusal, and Mohan Niraula in major roles. The film is set for nationwide release this Friday, on Jestha 30. Following its successful Pokhara premiere, premieres will also be held in Butwal, Biratnagar, and Dharan.
