Singer Rachana Rimal has been discharged from the hospital. She was undergoing treatment at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu after being diagnosed with an intestinal infection. She was released on Saturday and is currently resting at home.

Shortly after returning home, Rimal shared a Facebook post with a photo, updating her fans about her health. In the post, she mentioned that she is resting at home and recovering well, following her doctor’s advice.

Rimal had traveled to Rukum West for a musical performance when she suddenly experienced severe abdominal pain. She was airlifted to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj by an army helicopter. While initial tests suspected appendicitis, it was later confirmed to be an intestinal infection.

Here is her Facebook post:

Namaste,

I had traveled to Rukum on Jestha 26 (June 8) for a musical event scheduled for Jestha 27. After having dinner that night and going to bed, I suddenly felt severe abdominal pain around 1 AM. The pain continued intensely for 3–4 hours. I informed the event organizers, and we rushed to Chaurjahari Hospital for treatment.

After several tests, the doctors advised an urgent appendicitis surgery. I was confused and distressed — the unbearable pain, being in an unfamiliar place, and the sudden emergency left me in no condition to think clearly.

My family members then decided to bring me to Kathmandu via helicopter for better treatment. Since private helicopters had to come from Kathmandu, the process was time-consuming and complicated. So, we began the process of arranging a helicopter from the Nepali Army based in Surkhet. Soon, a paid Nepali Army helicopter was arranged.

I remain deeply grateful to Honorable Defense Minister Mr. Manbir Rai, Honorable Mr. Mahesh Bartaula, and the Chief of the Nepali Army for their crucial facilitation in arranging this.

From Rukum, I was airlifted to Nepalgunj Airport by the army helicopter and then flown to Kathmandu by Buddha Air. From the airport, I was taken to HAMS Hospital by ambulance and admitted to the emergency ward. After further tests, it was confirmed that the issue was not appendicitis as suspected earlier in Chaurjahari, but rather an intestinal infection.

Under continuous medical observation, I stayed at HAMS Hospital for 5 days. With proper treatment, my health improved, and I was discharged yesterday evening.

I sincerely thank all the medical professionals at both Chaurjahari Hospital and HAMS Hospital. I am especially grateful to senior doctor Dr. Bhola Rijal for facilitating my care, and to Dr. Anuj Parajuli and Dr. Divesh Shrestha for their dedicated treatment.

To everyone who expressed concern for my health, visited me at the hospital, or sent their well wishes in various ways during this difficult time — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

As per my doctors’ advice, I am currently resting at home and recovering. I would like to inform you all that I will be putting all my pre-scheduled engagements on hold for some time. I look forward to returning to you fully recovered and performing again soon.

With love,
Rachana Rimal
