The upcoming film Koshedhunga, slated for release on Bhadra 12 (August 18), will be released simultaneously in more than 40 countries, including Nepal.
Directed by Saroj Paudel, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the all-time blockbuster Purna Bahadurko Sarangi, Koshedhunga will be screened in Nepal as well as in over 40 countries including the USA, Australia, Japan, the UK, and Canada.
The film is being distributed internationally by Seven Seas International, owned by Patrick Subedi and Ramesh Dhakal. According to the production company, the film will be released simultaneously both in Nepal and abroad on the announced date.
“Our film will be released simultaneously in more than 40 countries. Negotiations are ongoing with distributors in additional countries,” said director Paudel, “and more countries may be added by the time of release.”
For the first time in the history of Nepali cinema in the diaspora, Koshedhunga will be released in theaters across 40 countries on Bhadra 12 (August 18), according to Ramesh Dhakal, director at Seven Seas International.
This unprecedented wide release is expected to elevate Nepali cinema to new international heights, Dhakal added.
Directed by Saroj Paudel, Koshedhunga was filmed in the Syangja district, specifically in Adhikhola, Triveni, and Sirubari areas, as well as on specially constructed sets in Kathmandu. Set in a rural backdrop, the film tells an original and authentic story.
A few weeks ago, the film’s first-look poster was released, featuring actress Surakshya Panta in a traditional rural woman’s attire, draped in a shawl, with a village background.
Presented by Nardevi Films, Koshedhunga stars Surakshya Panta, Aryan Sigdel, Richa Sharma, Manzil Kumar, Niti Shah, Praveen Khatiwada, Hiwala Gautam, Saroj Khanal, Bishal Pahadi, Dinesh Kafle, and Lokmani Sapkota, among others.
The film is produced by Previl Kandel and Kishor Anurag, with Dinesh Khadka serving as executive producer. Cinematography is by Babu Shrestha, editing by Nahkul Khadka, music by Ashish Aviral and Rhythm Kandel, and casting direction by Suwalmani Sapkota.
