The OST song ‘Jindagi: Udi Jane Ho Kaha’ from the upcoming Nepali film ‘Riyal Ringet’, slated for release on Shrawan 16, was officially launched Tuesday at a special event held at INI Cinema, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu. Produced by Rebel Films, the song captures the poignant story of Nepalis compelled to work abroad.
Written by Ravi Mall and Kosis Kshetri, with music by Chandan Dhoj KC and Kiran Tuladhar, and arranged by Tuladhar himself, the song features the soulful voice of Ketan Kshetri. It deeply portrays the struggles of Nepalis living abroad, their disturbed family life, and the pain of being forced to migrate for employment.
At the event, poet Nathan Ryan recited his poem reflecting the emotional struggles of ordinary Nepalis compelled to work as laborers abroad. One of his powerful lines, “When the plane took off from Tribhuvan Airport, dreams and life took off with it”, resonated with the core theme of the film. Singer Ketan Kshetri mesmerized the audience with his live performance.
Director Vibhor Pokhrel claimed that ‘Riyal Ringet’ tells the story of every Nepali and expressed confidence that the film would touch the hearts of many. Producer Gaganlal Pradhan said he invested in the project because the topic of foreign employment needed to be addressed. Having run Rebel Creation for over two decades, Pradhan had previously produced a video film ‘Abhilasha’ in 2039 B.S. (1982 AD) and helped launch many singers, directors, and actors through Rebel Creation.
Actress Nita Dhungana expressed joy that the film was finally nearing release after years of effort, while actor Pramod Chaulagain stated that he chose the role after deep consideration.
Directed by Vibhor Pokhrel, the film stars Pramod Chaulagain, Nita Dhungana, Chhulthim Dolma Gurung, Rabindra Khadka, Dhruv Koirala, Prem Subba, Ramchandra Adhikari, Riyar Rai, Roshan Shrestha, Ishwori Baral, Bimala Giri, among others. The script is written by Pradeep Bhardwaj. The name ‘Riyal Ringet’ comes from a blend of the currencies of Qatar and Saudi Arabia (Riyal) and Malaysia (Ringgit), symbolizing the main destination countries for Nepali migrant workers. The film features stunt direction by Roshan Shrestha, cinematography by Hari Ghale, editing by Bipin Mall, background score by Kiran Tuladhar, and choreography by Rajiv Samar.
Songs are composed by Ramchandra Kafle, Kiran Tuladhar, and Chandan Dhoj KC, with vocals by Sugam Pokhrel, Ketan Kshetri, Ramchandra Kafle, and Junu Rijal Kafle. Lyrics are written by Amar Nyaupane, Ravi Mall, Kosis Kshetri, Pradeep Bhardwaj, and Chandan Dhoj KC.
Filmed in Rajasthan (India), Chitwan, Kathmandu, and Letang (Nepal), the film will be distributed by Kafiya Films.
During the event, the film unit shared a tragic announcement: actress Anisha Sada was found dead at a local shooting location. A minute of silence was observed in her honor.
