The Nepali film ‘Unko Sweater’ celebrated its successful 51-day run on Saturday evening in Kathmandu. Having successfully screened in about 40 cinema halls across the country for 51 consecutive days, the film’s success was commemorated in a program attended by the film unit, well-wishers, representatives of cinemas continuously screening the film, distributors, and journalists.
During the event, appreciation certificates were presented to the film unit, cinema halls, and both domestic and overseas distributors by Artmandu’s director and ‘Unko Sweater’ director Naveen Chauhan, along with Kendra Limbu, the head of Kendra Motion Pictures, and executive producers Milan Khatri and Sagar Budhathoki. A three-tiered cake decorated with various posters was cut to celebrate the occasion.
Director Naveen Chauhan and actors Bipin Karki and Miruna Magar thanked all the audience, well-wishers, and supporters. Director Chauhan expressed happiness, saying the love the film has received inspires them to create even better work in the future.
The event was attended by the main cast including Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, Wilson Bikram Rai, Maotse Gurung, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, singer Sujan Chapagain, music director Kobid Bajra, lyricist Harka Saud, DOP Chintan Rajbhandari, and other creative and technical team members.
In the Nepali film industry, a 51-day screening is considered a major success. Released on Baisakh 26, ‘Unko Sweater’ has won the hearts of the audience and is performing well at the box office, having grossed over 110 million NPR so far.
Particularly, the film’s realistic storyline about Nepali society, strong performances, and melodious music have made ‘Unko Sweater’ popular among viewers. Director Chauhan himself wrote the script, and the film stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, Wilson Bikram Rai, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, Sunil Pokhrel, among others. The film’s songs are directed by Sujan Chapagain, with music by Kobid Bajra.
