A new Nepali film titled ‘Gobar Ganesh’ has been officially announced. The film will be directed by Marichman Shrestha, popularly known as Balchi Dhurbe. Presented by Balchi Dhurbe Films, the movie is scheduled to release on Magh 1 (January 15, 2026).
Details about the plot and scriptwriter have not been disclosed yet. Director Marichman said, “We will gradually reveal the cast and crew. For now, we have only announced the title and release date.”
He added, “The title itself gives away the genre – comedy. We are coming to make you laugh. ‘Gobar Ganesh’ will stand on the foundation of humor.”
Marichman rose to fame through the TV sitcom ‘Meri Bassai’ and later gained popularity as a director with ‘Halka Ramailo’ and ‘Juthe’. Whether he will act in this movie or not is yet to be confirmed.
The film will star Barsha Siwakoti in the lead role. Other confirmed cast members include Padam Tamang, Santosh Baniya, Mao Tse Gurung, Sita Devi Timalsina, and Pujan Ghimire (Puku). Sita Devi is the wife of comedian Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budho), and Pujan is known for her role in Halka Ramailo.
The digital partner for the film is OSR Digital, and Towa Studio will handle the publicity design. Shree Backtes Entertainment will distribute the film across Nepal.
