The second song of the Nepali film Riyal Ringet, titled “Timra Bale Jwain Khoje” (Your Father Wants a Son-in-Law), has been officially released. Set for release on Shrawan 16 (early August), the film focuses on the issue of foreign employment—a theme that is also reflected in the song’s lyrics and emotions.
The newly released song presents the connection between love and foreign employment in a playful and engaging way. Sung by Ramchandra Kafle and Junu Rijal Kafle, the song features lyrics by Pradeep Bhardwaj and music by Ramchandra Kafle. The music video stars actor Pramod Chaulagain and actress Nita Adhikari, who also perform a dance sequence in the video.
The lyrics clearly express the girl’s family’s preference for a son-in-law working abroad. In the video, Nita Adhikari’s character expresses a desire to marry a man who earns abroad, while Pramod Chaulagain’s character responds by saying he is also preparing to go abroad. The song helps introduce the characters and their backgrounds, giving audiences a glimpse into their story and relationship.
This song reflects the economic and social impact of foreign employment on Nepali society. Director Vibhor Pokharel has stated that Riyal Ringet represents the story of every Nepali. He shared that the film closely portrays the realities faced by Nepali youth working abroad and their lifestyles. The film’s title itself is symbolic—“Riyal” refers to the currencies of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, while “Ringgit” is the currency of Malaysia. Combining these two names highlights the primary destinations where hundreds of thousands of Nepali migrant workers go in search of a better future and to support their families.
The film stars Pramod Chaulagain, Nita Dhungana, along with Chhulthim Dolma Gurung, Ravindra Khadka, Dhruva Koirala, Prem Subba, Ramchandra Adhikari, Riyar Rai, Roshan Shrestha, Ishwari Baral, and Bimala Giri. The screenplay is written by Pradeep Bhardwaj. The action direction is by Roshan Shrestha, cinematography by Hari Ghale, editing by Bipin Mall, background score by Kiran Tuladhar, and choreography by Rajiv Samar.
The film’s music is composed by Ramchandra Kafle, Kiran Tuladhar, and Chandan Dhwaj KC, with vocals by Sugam Pokharel, Ketan Kshetri, Ramchandra Kafle, and Junu Rijal Kafle. The lyrics are written by Amar Nyaupane, Ravi Mall, Kosis Kshetri, Pradeep Bhardwaj, and Chandan Dhwaj KC.
Riyal Ringet was filmed in Rajasthan (India), and in Nepal’s Chitwan, Kathmandu, and Letang. The film will be distributed by Kafia Films.
