Rapper Manoj Oli Releases New Rap Highlighting the Harsh Realities of Nepali Society

Rapper Manoj Oli has released a new rap that powerfully portrays the current state of Nepali society.

The rap depicts the stark reality that, regardless of the political ideology or system—be it any “ism” or “tantra”—the rich continue to get richer while the poor struggle even more.

It reflects the disillusionment many feel after the advent of republicanism, where promises of change for the poor remain unfulfilled once politicians reach power. The rap highlights the unchanged ground realities in Nepal, despite changes in the system and leadership.

The song vividly captures the cycle of political assurances that never materialize, showing how, despite regime changes, the plight of the people remains the same.

Ultimately, the rap illustrates how revolutions carried out in the name of the poor have failed to bring about meaningful change. Basic necessities like a single proper meal, minimum education, and healthcare are still out of reach for many.

The music video features performances by Mukun Bhusal and other artists, and has been directed by Nikesh Khadka.
