Actress Barsha Siwakoti, who entered the Nepali film industry with Nai Nabhannu La 2, is currently at the peak of her career, actively signing one film after another.
She will be seen next in a lead role alongside popular actor Kedar Ghimire ‘Magne Budha’ in the upcoming film ‘Magne Raja’, set to release on August 22 (Bhadra 6).
“I immediately agreed to the project when I received the offer because I was drawn by the strength of the team,” said Barsha. “Having previously worked with Kedar dai in Chhakka Panja 5, I felt comfortable joining this project.”
Directed by Rishi Lamichhane, who is making a comeback after a long hiatus, the film is written by Samipyaraj Timalsena, with whom Barsha has worked before.
Barsha claims her role in Magne Raja is different from the characters she has portrayed in the past. “The storyline itself is unique. When the team narrated the character to me, I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off — but I gave it my all,” she shared.
Confident in the film’s outcome, Barsha added, “It’s not just about having a good script and team — it’s also about how the film is marketed and presented. This team has worked very professionally.”
She emphasized that the film’s content reflects the reality of Nepali society. “Our society divides people into lower and upper classes. This film tries to represent everyone — it even touches upon politics, friendship, family, and love,” she said.
Reflecting on her previous success, Barsha mentioned, “Chhakka Panja 5 brought me the most appreciation. That film gave me recognition I hadn’t received before. I believe I’ve done something even more different in Magne Raja.”
The film’s title itself intrigued her. “‘Magne’ brings so many interpretations to mind,” she said. “This film tries to explore all of those aspects through a single character.”
