Acclaimed filmmaker Milan Chams, known for directing diverse genre films such as Bir Bikram, Lily Bily, Blind Rocks, Bobby, Gurkha Warrior, and the blockbuster Anjila, is now set to direct a new romantic drama titled ‘Sumnima’.
The lead role in the film has been secured by Kunsang Bomjan, who will be making his acting debut. Expressing his excitement, Bomjan stated that working in a Milan Chams film is a matter of pride and that he is fully committed to proving himself through this opportunity. Sumnima is expected to mark a strong beginning in his film career.
The film is being produced under a joint venture of Gurkha Films and Chams Entertainment. Although the title Sumnima might suggest a female-centric story, Chams clarified that the film is a pure love story. Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri has already been confirmed as the female lead.
Casting for other roles and technical crew is currently underway. According to Chams, the film is being developed with a universal theme and an eye on the international market.
Written by Rajiv Thapa, Sumnima is scheduled to be shot in London and Nepal this coming August.
It’s worth noting that Chams’s previous directorial venture Anjila was a blockbuster hit and holds the record as the highest-grossing biopic film in Nepal’s box office history.
