The beauty pageant ‘Miss & Mrs. Gurung 2082’, aimed at preserving Gurung culture and empowering women, was officially launched with an orientation program held at Bishal Futsal, Samakhushi on Friday.
Honorable Minister of Agriculture Ramnath Adhikari was present as the chief guest.
Other special guests included:
International choreographer Rozin Shakya,
Veteran actor Saroj Khanal,
Former MP Manakumari Gurung,
Former DIG Dr. Deuti Gurung,
CEO of Ginopeka Prism Pradhan,
Organizing team members Shanu Khan, Rabilama Tamang, Keshav Thapa, and
Nepal Idol 2017 winner Buddha Lama.
Organized by SK Entertainment, the program was led by Managing Director Shanta Lama Tamang, who stated that “this edition is more organized, grand, and impactful than ever before.”
She emphasized that this is Nepal’s first completely free-of-cost beauty pageant, where all participants receive free registration, training, and necessary support.
The pageant aims to highlight the talent, confidence, and leadership abilities of Gurung women, while promoting and preserving the traditional attire, culture, and heritage of the Gurung community.
The opening event was marked by vibrant cultural performances, inspiring speeches, and enthusiastic participation.
The success of the program was significantly driven by the leadership of actress Shanta Kumari Tamang, known for the film “Himal Ki Rani.”
A former Zumba Queen 2015 and 1st runner-up of Mrs. Nepal Icon 2015, Shanta is the founder of Jai Nepal International and has been actively working for the empowerment of indigenous communities and women in Nepal.
