Nepali-American singer, composer, and music producer Anish ‘Okely’ Sapkota has released his latest single ‘Swarga Mero’ to mark his birthday. He has written, composed, and sung the song himself—and also appears in the music video.
Okili, who rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like ‘Meri Okely’ and ‘Jhyabata Hera’, continues to contribute to Nepali music while residing in the United States. “I have always stayed connected to Nepali music. This time, acting in my own video was a special experience,” he shared.
The song, categorized under pop/soft rock, explores the idea of an imaginary world of love. The music video features Okely alongside model Erisha Shrestha and was directed by fellow musician James Pradhan. Pradhan also handled cinematography, editing, and color grading.
Shot in the scenic locales of the U.S., Okely is confident the video will resonate with viewers. “For this project, the director suggested I act myself to express the song’s emotions fully—and I believe I’ve done justice to the feeling of love,” he added.
Following his previous album Rhythm Kathmandu, this time Okely has focused on a single track for ease of production and promotion. The song has been arranged by Generix and is available on Okely’s official YouTube channel.
Okili began his musical journey in the 1990s as the founding member of the ‘Okely’ band. He is known for hits like ‘Gulabi Jado’, ‘Juneli Raat’, ‘Timro Bani’, ‘Timi Nai Ramri’, and the recent ‘Simal Bhuwa’.
Currently based in Sacramento, California, he is known for blending modern pop sounds with emotional storytelling. In recognition of his contribution to music and culture, he received the Youth Achievement Award from Nobel Laureate Dr. Charles Townes.
