The recently released song ‘Ma Ta Sutera Utheko Paisama’ has garnered over 2.1 million views within just five days, winning audiences with its catchy melody and fresh visuals. Most notably, the song introduces veteran comedian Kedar Ghimire, popularly known as “Magne Budha,” in a brand-new avatar.
Director Rishi Lamichhane revealed that the upcoming film ‘Magne Raja’ revolves around the fantasy depicted in the song, with the character of the beggar (Magne) at the story’s core. “In the teaser and the first folk song, we presented Kedar Ghimire in his familiar image, which raised doubts among some viewers about the film’s novelty. But this song breaks that perception,” Lamichhane shared.
Despite retaining a comedic style, the film also incorporates contemporary social themes. Producer Munal Ghimire emphasized that the film avoids cheap jokes and aims to deliver meaningful messages through humor. “We’re confident that the film will spark new conversations,” he said.
Set to release on Bhadra 6 (August 22, 2025), ‘Magne Raja’ stars Kedar Ghimire, Wilson Bikram Rai, Barsha Siwakoti, Shishir Wangdel, Sharda Giri, and Radhika Kandel. The film is written by Samipya Raj Timalsina, shot by Narendra Mainali, edited by Mitra Gurung, with music by Deepak Sharma and Babul Giri.
The film has already released two songs and a teaser, with promotional content gradually capturing public attention. The viral presence of the song on TikTok has further boosted the film’s hype.
