Emerging actor Aniket Pakhrin Lama has been signed for the upcoming romantic film Sumnima, directed by Milan Chams. Known as a contestant on the Indian reality show Splitsvilla, Aniket was selected for the film through an audition, according to director Chams. He had secured a position among the top eight contestants in the 14th season of Splitsvilla.
Despite being a newcomer, Aniket’s confidence, personality, and on-camera presence impressed the production team, said Chams. Sumnima will mark Aniket Pakhrin Lama’s debut in the Nepali film industry.
Co-produced by Gorkha Films and Chams Entertainment, Sumnima will be a pure romantic drama. Although the title suggests a female-centric story, the narrative will focus on love, conflict, and a rich cultural backdrop, Chams explains.
Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri, and actors Kunsang Bomzan and Anup Bikram Shahi have already been signed for the project. Casting for other actors and crew members is currently underway.
The screenplay is written by Rajiv Thapa, and filming is scheduled to begin this August in London and Nepal. Director Chams’ previous biopic Anjila was a box office hit and set a new benchmark in the Nepali biopic genre.
With that success, Sumnima is also being developed with international audiences in mind, added Chams.
