Actor Saugat Malla, who considers himself less proficient in offering explanations, has shared his perspective on his upcoming film Cetaamol, set to release this Friday (Shrawan 23).
According to Malla, the name Cetaamol is used metaphorically in the film. These days, he is actively involved in the promotion of the film, and he appears to be quite optimistic about its reception.
“The title has been used symbolically. In the place where the story is set, even a single Cetaamol tablet can be a matter of life or death. It seems the director has used this idea as a symbol in the film,” said Malla, explaining the concept.
It is commonly said that a film must emotionally connect with the audience in order to succeed. When asked how strong Cetaamol is from that perspective, Malla left the answer to the audience.
He remarked that the film’s strength can only be felt through the viewers’ experience.
“The way the local setting and lived experiences are portrayed—you will definitely feel it,” he said. “The film is essentially about a family, and people are usually drawn to stories that explore family relationships. It tells the story of life in a village—the hardships and emotions—through the journey of one central character in a compelling way.”
While Malla leaves the final judgment to the audience, he also shared his own impressions during the shoot. He said he was able to identify moments in the film that are emotionally powerful and believes viewers will resonate with the character’s pain and experiences.
“From what I’ve seen, the audience will witness a heartfelt story set in a rural background. The situations the character faces, and the emotional journey he goes through, are presented in a way that the viewers will deeply feel,” he added.
Cetaamol, according to Malla, explores the relationship between a son, a father, and a mother. He believes that the emotional highs and lows of this familial bond will engage the viewers throughout the film.
He concluded that his observations will become clearer after the film’s release.
Along with Malla, the cast includes Benisha Hamal, Shreekrishna Niraula, Januka Bishwakarma, Lokendra Lekhak, Bhugol Karki, Hiunwala Gautam, Sushil Pokharel, Dinesh Regmi, R.R. Khadka, Gyanu Malla, Pawan Bhattarai, Kajal Bhujel, and child artists Karan Nepali and Aradhya Rajyalaxmi DC. Shreekrishna and Januka are making their debut through this film.
